A quick look at a few of the stories buzzing around last night and this morning...
I imagine the feeling of being handed your hard-earned World Series
ring is inversely proportional to the feeling of losing it or having it
stolen. Unfortunately, one WFC is experiencing the latter this morning.
Kyle Kendrick's home in Washington was burglarized last week, and among
the missing possessions were his ring and some other presumably
irreplaceable memorabilia such as a Ken Griffey Jr jersey. The Seattle
Times has more on the effed up story, including that KK's house was up
for sale and had an open house last week. [Seattle Times]
Just 922 wins into his career, Philadelphia University's Herb Magee
was elected into the Naismith Hall of Fame. Mo Cheeks fell short of the
cut. Ryan Feldman has more on Magee's esteemed career and the 2011

LouWill, UConn, Danny Briere, and Ville Leino, and two local heavyweights in brewing square off, after the jump.
Lou Williams will miss the rest of the regular season with a hammy
strain, but hopes to return for the playoffs. We hope so too, LouWill.
That's a crappy way for a hell of a season to end, and the Sixers need
him contributing valuable minutes and big shots once the first round
starts. In the meantime, the Sixers will bring on Antonio Daniels. [CSNPhilly]
Finally, how bad was that NCAA Championship Game last night? So bad
that just about every story chronicling UConn's win begins with some
discussion of how awful the actual game was, including how it had the
worst combined field-goal percentage since 1948 and fewest total points
since 1949. Pat Forde has more on the woeful stats, and I guess on how
great UConn is anyway or whatever. Unfortunately, the final game will be
remembered at least as clearly as the brilliant month they just had. [ESPN]
Ville Leino was appropriately pissed at his benching in the third
period of Sunday's loss to the Rangers. I say "appropriately" not
because he was underserving of the pine, but because being pissed is
exactly the desired effect of Lavvy sitting him down. It's time to play
with a fire under your ass, and there's no better reminder than feeling
the bench under it instead.
The Flyers are also walking a fine injury line this week, with Danny
Briere expected out tonight along with Blair Betts. Ben Holmstrom has
been recalled to take some forward shifts until they're back, but the
presence of the veterans will be missed at even strength and on special
teams. Well, the penalty kill at least. Not sure there's anything to
miss on the power play these days.
