Here's Wayne Simmonds Beating Eric Brewer DOWN

Share

In tonight's Flyers-Lightning preview, we mentioned these two teams don't like each other much, and wondered what make its way into the next episode of HBO's 24/7. There's been plenty of scrapping and jawing going on so far, and one full throw-down between Wayne Simmonds and Tampa defenseman Eric Brewer. It didn't go so well for Brewer, who needed help getting off the ice, stumbling and bleeding after some big connections.

Thanks, FlyersInHD.

Simmonds may have been responding to Brewer's shoving of Harry Z after the latter made contact with Lightning goalie Mathieu Garon. Somewhat surprisingly given the league's sensitivity to head injuries, Brewer was back on the ice in the third period. His baseline ImPACT test scores must have been terrible.

All battle fun aside, we hope Brewer's noggin's OK.

The fight didn't seem to help the Flyers out much, as the Lightning owned the second period action and clamped down through much of the third, giving the home fans a 5-1 win. [Recap]
