Watch Flyers’ First-Round Pick Sam Morin Knock Dudes Out

The first thing you need to know about Sam Morin is this is one huge kid. He stands six-feet-six-inches tall, weighs 200 lbs., and his 18th birthday isn’t for another 11 days. He’s going to be a monster. He is a monster.

The second thing you need to know about Sam Morin is he’s mean – a bit of a bully, in fact. He will drop the gloves, and he will drop the person who was crazy enough to go toe-to-toe with him. We’re not sure how frequently he’ll actually be fighting in the NHL. You need to know this part for self-preservation.

Here are a couple of kids from the QMJHL who had to learn the hard way. As you can probably imagine, Morin packs some wallop with which to score true heavyweight knockouts. One of these shots was rather dangerous, as his opponent spends a couple minutes down on the ice afterwards.

So the Flyers’ first-round pick can brawl. What fans will be most anxious to find out is whether Morin can continue on the path that led from his being a potential mid-round pick to going 11th overall on draft day.

I’M SO HYPED to see this dude play. He’s like a cross between Chris Pronger and Luke Richardson. Exactly the pitbull the Flyers needed on the blueline. With plenty of scoring sure to develop at forward, a couple big, shut down defensemen will do wonders for this team moving forward. Grossmann, Schenn, Morin eventually…I like it.

Holey cripes this kid is a beast. Flyers front office, please please PLEASE bring this kid along right. Here’s to hoping we’ve got the next Chris Pronger (or even a fraction of that) on our hands…

At three inches shorter than Chara with Pronger’s nastiness, this kid could be scary.

Huge wingspan, not afraid to get dirty either blocking shots or tangling up with players. Got a good sense of where to be and what to do. What’s not to like?

This is a great pick by the Flyers.

im not sure who said it but right before homer announced the pick he said “looks like they’re going to draft a flyer”

and everyone knew exactly what that meant
