Chip Kelly compared Russell Wilson to Bruno Mars last night

Feb 3, 2014, 11:15 AM EDT

You can call him a “game manager” if you want but now you have to call him a Super Bowl Champion.

Russell Wilson did everything he needed to do to lead the Seattle Seahawks to an impressive victory over the Denver Broncos last night. Those lengths may have included a little superstition about not cutting his hair all season.

Wilson joined the Fox Sports 1 crew after the win and was asked about his long locks. Howie Long then passed along a message he received from Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly.

“You know what Chip Kelly texted me after the halftime, he said, ‘why is Russell Wilson performing at halftime?’ Bruno Mars, the hair.”

You may recall the Eagles had quite a bit of interest in Wilson back before Seattle selected him but things didn’t fall their way.

Where’s Kulp’s post about how Russell Wilson is overrated and he would still rather have Matt Stafford?

With that defense they could have had Wade Wilson or Matt Flynn at QB and still won handily. It’s a team sport which is why some exceptional QBs never won and some less than avg have won. The Seattle team as a whole proved better than the Denver team. QB’s are only part of the picture.

their star RB had 39 yards, and their QB had 18 completions and they still won by 5 touchdowns. I can’t figure out if that’s awesome, or aggravating. Probably both

The Seahawks Special defense scored more points than the Broncos offense. The Seahawks defense and Special Teams combined to score double the points of the Broncos offense.

Things fell there way, that’s how they got Foles, who I would certainly take over Wilson.

I don’t know man… I like Foles but Wilson has the legs. He’s better than Foles right now
