Comment of the week sponsored by Smith’s Restaurant and Bar: Have a Chipper New Year’s Eve

Dec 26, 2013, 10:23 AM EDT

source: If you’re looking for any last minute New Year’s Eve plans, the good folks over at Smith’s Restaurant and Bar wanted us to let you know they’re having a customer appreciation night with no cover charge and a complimentary champagne toast in addition to plenty of food and drink specials. So if you’re in Philly on the 31st, head over to Rittenhouse and check out Smith’s.

As for our winner this week of a $25 gift card to Smith’s, we go to a Chip Kelly fan, NYPhilsPhan, who goes with honesty this time of year:

You know, I was skeptical of Chipper’s obvious fan baiting early on (the Steak and Rocky signs…), but it’s nice to have a coach with some goddamn emotions about the game.

Because I was raised in a household that lived or died by the Eagles on Sunday (and most of the week after a loss). But it’s refreshing to see a guy enjoying himself on the sideline, getting fired up, and going out there and dropping a bomb on Chicago because they were playing like a team that clinched and that doesn’t sit right.

Win or lose next week, I know one thing for sure: I really like Chip Kelly and I hope he sticks around for a long time. Superbowls are a nice goal, but the reality is we spend a lot of time with our head football coach though the media. It’s time well spent for the first time in over a decade, and all of the sudden we’re a young team with some real pieces in place is rather than the movie Groundhog day except no one learns anything in the end.
