Eagles-Raiders: Will Nick Foles rebound? Can Birds score a touchdown?

It’s been three weeks—21 full days—since Nick Foles placed a 36-yard rainbow between three defenders and into DeSean Jackson’s waiting arms in Tampa Bay. That was the last time the Eagles’ offense reached the end zone.

Over the past two games we’ve seen Foles regress to Bobby Hoying levels of ineptitude, watched as Michael Vick tried to play without the use of his best feature—mobility—and got a glimpse into “the future” with an underprepared Matt Barkley. It’s no wonder the Birds haven’t been able to produce so many as six measly points.

Obviously Eagles nation will be watching intently to see whether or not Foles can rebound, whether he’s NFC-Offensive-Player-of-the-Week good or 38-percent-completion-rate bad or anything in between. But most of all, we really just want to see some scoring.

We get it: Chip Kelly doesn’t have his franchise quarterback. We’re starving though. Whether it’s Foles, Vick or Barkley, we need to see something that gives us hope for next season at least.

That’s been the biggest element missing these past few weeks. Most folks expected the Eagles were going to miss the playoffs this season, that the quarterback isn’t on the roster and they would struggle as a result. Still, there has to be some positive steps in the right direction at least, no?

We’ll see. Win or lose to the Raiders in Oakland today, all I ask is this game be watchable. It seems like such a small request, but after the last two, it seems there are no guarantees.
