Eagles still control their own playoff destiny but wildcard now viable; plus black jerseys Sunday

Nov 25, 2013, 1:15 PM EDT

Prior to this weekend’s action, it was commonly believed that the Birds would have to win the NFC East in order to earn a spot in the playoffs. After an exciting weekend of football around the NFL, however, it’s actually possible they could sneak in with a wildcard spot.

Phil Sheridan blogging for ESPN explains that the point could likely prove moot given that to edge out Arizona or San Fran to win the would-be wildcard spot, they’d likely have to beat the Cowboys anyway which would assumedly help them win the division as well.

But if the Birds do beat Arizona on Sunday, they can put themselves in a better position to have a chance at the wildcard spot when all is said and done. Sheridan does a nice job explaining it all, if you’re interested in the specifics of how it would all have to play out.

According to the Philadelphia Eagles’ official Instagram account, Chip Kelly’s boys will rock their alternate black uniforms for the contest against the Cardinals this coming Sunday.

It is a fucking joke we’re subjected to the black jerseys every year, and Kelly Green once every two decades

Word. Black is dumb as an alternate. Very 00′s and lacks imagination. Throw in the fact that they still wear green helmets and it’s a mismatch, IMO.

Jay Z would argue that black is the hotness. Look what the change has done for the Nets. Best team in….oh wait.

Now that this franchise is heading back in the right direction, please return to our Kelly Green and silver scheme. The Packers didn’t change their colors. The Bears, the Giants, the Lions, the Browns. All the long-standing franchises in the NFL proudly retain their true colors. Took a New Englander to come along and discard our legacy and introduce “midnight blue” (hardly green when you look at the disgraceful apparel options — the colors are as varied as it gets). Come on, Jeffrey, Kelly Green is the Philadelphia Eagles. Tweak some of the design elements, if you must, but get it right! It’s something called tradition and pride.
Oh, and don’t tell me those colors remind you of losing teams. Our three championship teams wore them, so that doesn’t fly.

Yeah that was horrible I was surprised the league allowed them to come out wearing that stuff

Who cares as long as they win. They can come out in tee shirts for all I care> Just watching the young players develop into good solid contributor’s is good enough for me, hell when was the last time we saw this team tackle as well as they are this season. I had them at 5-11 at 6-5 with a shot at going to the dance is amazing in its own and watching Nick F become the QB I thought when he was drafted.

One could make the argument that this is the most important game of the season for them, if for no other reason than it adds/subtracts meaning to/from the Dallas game.
