Hey, Bobby Hoying Once Resembled That Remark!

One thing is for sure, our fans don’t forget very much. Foles
Fever has caused a lot of old-timey Eagles fans (!) to invoke the name of one
Bobby Hoying, who found himself in a strikingly similar position 15 years ago.
Now he finds himself on Twitter, talking about how he once found himself in a
strikingly similar position.

Just to quickly recap: the Eagles used a third-round pick on
Hoying coming out of Ohio State in 1996. He started the final six games of the ’97
season, playing well enough to earn the trusty “quarterback of the future”
label. The following season went horribly wrong, and Hoying was banished, all of which more
or less ushered in the Andy Reid-Donovan McNabb era. As Phil Sheridan wrote in
Tuesday’s Inquirer, the quarterback was not to blame for everything that transpired,
though it remains a lesson in lowered expectations nonetheless.

Amid the recent comparisons to Nick Foles, Hoying happened
to join Twitter on Tuesday. Here’s a sampling of what he had to say about
Philly’s rekindled love affair with his story.
