Remember when everyone assumed Chip Kelly was going to come in and throw the ball all over the field? People who never watched college football assumed that because his Oregon teams scored 724 points per game, they never ran the ball.

Well, LeSean McCoy never got that memo.

With a second-quarter run Sunday night, McCoy became the Eagles’ single-season rushing leader, beating Wilbert Montgomery’s mark of 1,512 yards in 1979. He’s also sewn up the 2013 NFL rushing title, and will finish more than 200 yards ahead of Kansas City’s Jamaal Charles, who sat out Sunday’s game against San Diego with the Chiefs’ playoff spot locked up.

McCoy will also finish the season with the NFL lead in yards from scrimmage, he entered the night with 2,012 — 32 more than Charles.

What’s the one Eagles rushing record that McCoy won’t touch this year? His own mark of 17 rushing touchdowns, set in 2011.

Gotta give him props for a helluva season. Guy’s one of the best, if not the best all-around RB in the game today.

That said, he drove me nuts last night fighting to get outside each and every time. Dallas had his number each time he did that. He’s gotta reconfigure on the fly when teams push him that way. Either that, or he’s gotta reach down deep and scamper through the holes up the middle more.

Would love to see what kind of bonus was built into Shady’s contract for finishing as the leader in both of those categories. Combine the win with that $$$ and he’s gotta be feeling pretty good today
