Nick Foles ranked 70th on NFL's Top 100 Players of 2014

The individual accolades simply do not stop rolling in for Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Nick Foles. He led the league in passer rating in 2013. He was twice named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, plus took home NFC Player of the Month honors in November. Then he put a bow on it all by winning Most Valuable Player at the Pro Bowl. The man practically has his own wing in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Now Foles, only 25 years of age and entering just his third professional season, has been named one of the NFL's Top 100 Players. Peers voted the Birds signal-caller No. 70, ahead of fellow field generals such as Tony Romo and Matt Stafford.

When you think about it, 70 is a somewhat tepid endorsement considering some of the historic achievements Foles produced last season. Then again, another way of looking at the ranking is it's amazing he made the list at all considering he wasn't even a believable starter in many eyes at the beginning of the year. The ranking acknowledges that Foles' campaign makes him a player to watch moving forward, while properly taking into account that he still has much to prove.

The Top 100 show on the NFL Network reveals 10 names per week as voted on by players around the league. Other Eagles who have heard their names called through four episodes so far are All-Pro offensive linemen Evan Mathis (No. 88) and Jason Peters (No. 67). No doubt, LeSean McCoy will make the cut as well—but not for another month in all likelihood. Could Shady crack the top 10?

Also of note, DeSean Jackson came in at No. 63.

Of course, these accolades are great, but all Philly fans truly care about is whether Foles is the man who can finally lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl. Time will tell.
