Quotable: Jerry Jones Is Shaking In His Boots

Dec 21, 2011, 12:00 PM EDT

Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones admits he is scared of the Eagles this week.
“Because it is the Eagles and after the butt-kicking they gave us up in Philadelphia, I’m scared,” Jones said Tuesday on KRLD-FM. “It’s that kind of feeling. The respect turns into being afraid of what they can do to you if you have some breakdowns out there, so you can put that scared there if you want to. I think sometimes I know I do my best when I’m scared.”

Jerry probably should be scared. The Eagles stomped a size 34-7 mud hole into Dallas back in Week 7. They dominated time of possession 42 to 17. Michael Vick had his most efficient outing of the season, LeSean McCoy rushed for 185 yards, and a blown assignment late in the game led to the Cowboys’ only score. It was a perfect night, a reminder that buried beneath the layers of unpleasantness this season has been, the Eagles have one hell of an explosive team.

If the Giants lose to the Jets, the Birds’ season continues, but even if they are eliminated from postseason contention before the 4:15 kickoff on Saturday, draft position be damned, I hope they crush the Cowboys again.
