The End Is Near? Gus Bradley Coming to Philly for Second Interview with Birds

Jan 15, 2013, 3:05 AM EDT

Yesterday we suggested the Eagles’ head coaching search might
come to a close this week. Less than 24 hours later, many reporters are
speculating that search could be concluding as early as today.

Gus Bradley is on his way to Philadelphia – perhaps he’ll
already be in town by the time you’re reading this – and the Seattle Seahawks
defensive coordinator will be conducting his second interview for the Birds’ top
opening. Often times the second interview leads seamlessly into the hiring

Eagles brass met with Bradley on Saturday, one day before
the Seahawks’ postseason exit. Given that they are wasting little time bringing
him to Philly, interest appears to be very high.

The team did meet with Cincinnati offensive coordinator Jay
Gruden on Monday as scheduled, the same day it we learned they also talked to
fired Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt. In other words, additional candidates
could still be in the running.

Then again, the Eagles have no more interviews lined up at the
moment, at least none that we are aware of. It had been reported that
Indianapolis offensive coordinator Bruce Arians would have a sit-down, but that
seems to have fallen by the wayside.

We’ll have more on Bradley and his potential candidacy as
the story develops. Without getting too far ahead of ourselves though, it’s
beginning to look like the Eagles may have finally found their man.
