Tony Romo puts damper on big party potential tonight at the Linc; next week in Dallas for NFC East crown

Dec 22, 2013, 4:18 PM EDT

source: It’s never a great thing when you’re counting on the Washington Redskins.

Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys found a way to fight back today down in DC and juuuust missed crumbling for the second week in a row.

The Redskins had the Cowboys up against the ropes in the fourth quarter but Romo found DeMarco Murray on 4th and goal from the ten yard line to put the Cowboys up for good. Well, after Dan Bailey barely freakin’ made the extra point.

The incredible potential for a party at the Linc tonight was totally extinguished with the Cowboys victory today. Whether the Birds win or lose tonight does not matter for their playoff hopes. It could obviously help with seeding and momentum, but not whether they get in or not.

The Eagles must win in Dallas next week to win the NFC East and earn a playoff berth.

Chip had said earlier in the week that he’ll stick with his regular guys regardless of the outcome of Washington-Dallas. Should he stick with that plan?

On the plus side, maybe you can have an extra cocktail or three tonight and not stress about the game all that much. #NoInjuries

Foles is gonna make up for the last time he faced them. He’s gonna have a huge game and lead us to the division

Classic Shanahan blunders. Oh well, only fitting the Cowboys lose the division 3 straight years to 3 different NFCE teams.

I think Shanahan might’ve secretly wanted this outcome for a variety of reasons, maybe a little revenge for the McNabb trade.

I’m so glad Burkhardt and Lynch aren’t getting the broadcast next week. They drooled all over Romo’s one spin move for about two quarters, begged for DeMarco Murray to get more second-half carries and really played up that “Romo limped on that one play, so LOOK AT HOW HE’S GRITTING THIS ONE OUT” narrative. I’d take Troy Aikman, Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson in the booth together over those two.

    Also, to the Washington Team-to-be-Renamed-Soons:

Forget the indian thing. ‘Skins need to change their name out of embarrassment, then fire everyone not wearing 88.

Native American groups are demanding that the Redskins either change their team name or get a pass rush and a secondary.

Lazy job by Costas, bringing up snowballs and Santa, leading into the pregame spot with Foles.
