GIF: Flyers goalie prospect slashes player in back of head

Share

We'll just go right to the lede from Yahoo Canada:

Slashing an opponent whose back is turned in the head might play well with hardcore Philadelphia Flyers fans, but for civilized people, probably not as much.

Yeah, no.

We'll forget the undeserved swipe at Philly fans slide for a minute and pay our attention to another unwarranted attack, this one by Flyers goalie prospect Anthony Stolarz who is playing for the London Knights against the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL playoffs. You can watch the uncalled for wack above.

After Stolarz receives a relatively harmless looking slash on his pads, he responds with a much more brutal looking slash to the back of the opponents head.

Not cool at all and surely suspension worthy.

Stolarz was in camp with the Flyers prior to this season when Tim Panaccio wrote in September, "The Flyers still have big expectations for the 6-foot-6 Stolarz in the future and figure he is two or three years away from seriously competing for an NHL job."

Unsportsmanlike moves like this aren't going to help that cause.

UPDATE: He'll see an 8-game suspension.
