The news on Scott Hartnell is not good. The timetable on his
return to the ice just went from out indefinitely to four-to-eight weeks –
anywhere from 14 to 25 games of the Flyers’ condensed 48-game schedule – as GM
Paul Holmgren revealed to reporters the left winger has a broken bone in his
foot.

Hartnell took a shot off his foot against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night, and skated to bench gingerly.

Obviously this is a big blow for the Flyers, who have
started off slow, and are already trying to replace Jaromir Jagr on their top line.
Hartsy is coming off of a career year while playing alongside Claude Giroux, scoring
67 points off of 37 goals and 30 assists. He also led the club with 16 power
play tallies.

There is already talk Homer will explore a trade to fill the
void while Hartnell is out. Still a big blow for Philly both in terms of
production and leadership.
