We know Ilya Bryzgalov is a big history buff so it's no surprise his new custom mask for the Winter Classic pays tribute to some of the great Philly sports icons. Mike Schmidt, Reggie White, Dr. J, Bobby Clarke, and the Phillie Phanatic are all featured prominently on the new goalie mask. Veterans Stadium also makes a nice appearance.
Perhaps my favorite part of the below video of Franny Drummond of Drummond Custom Airbrush describing the mask is how he had to get Scott Hartnell and JVR to help explain what exactly the Phillie Phanatic is and why he's important to Philadelphia. [photos and video below]

Joe Frazier and Gene Hart will also be added onto the mask as well. The HK patch painted on is also a very nice gesture given the location of the game.
I still think a small little homage to the Crab Nebula would have been a nice touch.
UPDATE: Also of interest for mask enthusiasts: Drummond will be on DNL on Friday afternoon prior to the Flyers-Rangers game to unveil the finished masks.
