Pittsburgh. They’re so easy to hate.

After storming back from another slow start to lay a whooping on the Pens, both sides got unruly with just over a minute to play. Down three goals, Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma put his fourth line out on the ice and Joe Vitale absolutely wrecked Danny Briere on what looked like a pretty clean check. The Flyers were not happy about it, as the game was well out of hand and the Penguins were clearly sending a message for the next meeting and likely playoff battle by skating their 4th liners. It wasn’t the first instance of Vitale going hunting, even if cleanly. Earlier in the game, his knee-on-knee hit took out Nick Grossmann. A number of scrums broke out on the ice but the most exciting action was going down on the benches.

Lavvy climbed up on the boards and was letting Byslma have it like you rarely see from coaches. It was an amazing sight and just the latest reason to love the Flyers coach. [video below, plus Scott Hartnell mocking a grown man who came to the game dressed as Hulk Hogan]
