As disappointing as the Flyers' first-round exit was, there is at least a silver lining. After his play over the final four games of the series, the consensus amongst Flyers fans is a cautious optimism that Steve Mason may indeed be the franchise goalie this club has been seeking for a long, long time.
The soon-to-be-26-year-old posted a 2.50 goals against average and .917 save percentage in 61 regular season games and a 1.97 GAA/.939 SV% against the Rangers in the playoffs.

On Friday, Mason took to Instagram to thank the fans.
I just want to thank the fans of Philly for making my first full year in town one to remember. It was truly a blast to play infront of a packed house every night. Already looking forward to next year and becoming a better goalie and a better team! Lots to look forward to.#thanksforthesupport #greatfans #packedhouse#seeyasoon
While a nice touch, we're a little disappointed his thank you didn't include more George the bulldog:
George Mason, a fine American name.
