Video: Jaromir Jagr Scores First as a Flyer, Does His Salute

Share

Jaromir Jagr and linemate (for the time-being) Scott Hartnell each scored their first goals of the season in Monday's 4-2 Flyers win over the Maple Leafs, and then each scored again. For Jagr, it was his first goal as a Flyer. If you were wondering whether he'd do his trademark salute...

Just like the rest of us who grew up watching Jagr score all those goals and celebrate with his salute, Scott Hartnell and some of the other Flyers were wondering whether #68 would keep it alive as a Flyer.

"We were wondering," said Hartnell. "We had a little wager on the side on whether he was going to do it or not. He hasn't lost a step with that and he had a big grin on his face."

When asked what made him break out the salute, Jagr's answer was simple:

“In 15 years, no one has done it, so I thought it would be kind of nice to do it again after 15 years.”

Hopefully there'll be plenty more to come.
