Video: Sean Couturier is too much for Kyle Turris in rare fight

Sean Couturier

21-year-old Sean Couturier is becoming an excellent all-around player right before our very eyes. Last week, Coots set a career high with four points in a game. On Monday, he experienced his first NHL fight.

The Philadelphia Flyers are no strangers to fighting. According to HockeyFights.com, the Bullies are second only to the Toronto Maple Leafs this season when it comes to dropping the gloves. The usually mild-mannered Couturier on the other hand had managed to avoid the fisticuffs… until now.

Couturier did battle with Ottawa Senators center Kyle Turris, another not known for his fighting. For a couple of amateur brawlers, they put on a good bout.

Turris is listed at 6’1”, 191 lbs. Couturier has him by two inches and six pounds according to his NHL.com profile, although he’s still a growing boy, so he might be even bigger than that. He sure seems to engulf his opponent at one point during this fight, which not to spoil the ending, Couturier wins with the help of a big uppercut.

Turris and the Senators would have the last laugh though in a shootout. Couturier had a chance to keep the game alive, but his attempt rang off the pipe to seal Ottawa’s 5-4 win.

Lost in a shootout. Some things never change.

Good to see Couturier stand up for himself and give Turris a nice little beating.
