Video: Watch Wayne Simmonds First Career Hat Trick

Share

Wayne Simmonds had experienced a number of Gordie Howe hat
tricks during his five-year NHL career, but never a true hat trick. That
changed on Saturday night when Simmer notched three markers in the Flyers’ 5-3
victory over the Hurricanes.

The scores bumped Simmonds’
total up to 15 for the year, snapping an eight-game goalless streak in the
process. He also added an assist on a blocked shot that developed into a
breakaway goal for Matt Read.

Even though the game was at
Carolina, there was said to be a healthy contingent of Flyers fans present (as
seen in the photo up top), so Simmonds did in fact get some new headgear. Randy Miller counted 23 hats on to the ice surface. Nice showing for a meaningless
hockey game on the road.
