Blood in the Water: Temple, Saint Joseph's and La Salle All Go Down on Day One

Share

2:30 p.m.: The Temple Owls simply didn't take care of the basketball in their game this afternoon in Atlantic City. UMass took advantage of those turnovers and knocked the favorite out of the A-10 tournament. They may also have kicked Drexel in the shins along the way.
5:00 p.m.: Thankfully for the Dragons, the SJU Hawks are one less team in their way. St. Bonaventure dispatched of them in quarterfinal game #2.
And now who would have thought, but the La Salle Explorers are the last team left standing to carry the Philadelphia banner. They literally just tipped (6:36 p.m.) with the St. Louis Billikens and Ramon Galloway. We're courtside and will have a wrap-up of the day's events later this evening.
9:30 p.m.: And they're all gone.
La Salle scored the first basket of the game, lost it 28 seconds later, and never led again. Their 78-71 loss to the St. Louis Billikens makes it a clean sweep of the 8, 4, and 2 seeds over the city of Philadelphia.
We'll be back later this weekend to extrapolate on the little bit of schadenfreude being felt throughout the rest of the conference and bandied about Boardwalk Hall Friday evening.
In the meantime, we redirect to you the individual game recaps on this CSNPhilly Boardwalk Hall wrap-up page.
If you're in AC and booked at your hotel for the next two nights, we know the feeling.
