DOWN GOES DUKE! Temple Beats Blue Devils in Philly

Jan 4, 2012, 9:17 PM EDT

Fran Dunphy's Temple Owls beat the Duke Blue Devils for the first time since 1996 on Wednesday night down at the Wells Fargo Center.

The kids in Cherry stormed the Wells Fargo Center floor tonight after the Temple Owls took down #3 (or 5) Duke, 78-73. For someone who went to TU in the long era that saw the Owls unable to beat the Blue Devils despite a quite a few regular season meetings and several NCAA Tournament heartbreakers, it was great to see them beat Coach K for the first time since 1996. The team that took the subway to the arena showed the country why no visit to a Philly court is safe.

Menta will probably have more on the game once his sprint to Broad and Cecil B is over and he has a minute to get his clothes back on. Dave Zeitlin has details on the game action here.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FOR THE CHERRY AND THE WHITE!
