Hey, Penn State People, Trying to Hang in Philly and Then Day Trip to Baltimore in 2015?

Penn State’s relationship with the NCAA isn’t the best at the moment, so the Nittany Lions are moving to the NFL!

Well, a couple of the stadiums at least.

The Big Ten released its 2015 football schedules on Tuesday and the Nittany Lions will be playing right off I-95 twice in just under two months.

PSU will open its season in Philadelphia on Sept. 5 at Lincoln Financial Field vs. Temple, and then, on Oct. 24, make its first road trip to visit the University of Maryland. That game will not be held at Byrd Stadium on the Terps’ campus — cool place, by the way — but in M&T Bank Stadium — the home of the NFL’s Ravens — in Baltimore.

Maryland, just a reminder, is scheduled to join the Big Ten in 2014.

Speaking of which, since we’re discussing non-State College trips way in advance, Bill O’Brien’s team will play the 2014 Big Ten opener when they travel to Rutgers next year.

But back to the original point of this post, the full 2015 schedule — save for two more yet-to-be-scheduled-out-of-conference matchups — via our guy Kevin McGuire over at The Examiner:

Penn State’s 2015 Football Schedule
(as of June 3, 2013; home games in CAPS, * = Big Ten game)

  • Sep. 5 – at Temple
  • Sep. 12 – BUFFALO
  • Sep. 19 – RUTGERS*
  • Sep. 26 – Open Date
  • Oct. 3 – Open Date
  • Oct. 10 – INDIANA*
  • Oct. 17 – at Ohio State*
  • Oct. 24 – Maryland* (Baltimore)
  • Oct. 31 – ILLINOIS*
  • Nov. 7 – at Northwestern*
  • Nov. 14 – Open Date
  • Nov. 21 – MICHIGAN*
  • Nov. 28 – at Michigan State*

You think you meant to say Bill O’Brien and not ‘Jim’.

Bill O’Brien quit as coach of Penn State and let his brother Jim coach it!

I’m not going to any more PSU games until they defect from the NCAA and start their own league named after Joe Paterno. The JPCAA.

My brain is only capable of relaying information involving Philly-native post-Larry Brown ex-Sixers coaches

M&T Bank Stadium — Looks like UMD wasted no time in figuring out how to get the most $$$ out of PSU fans.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rutgers-PSU game gets moved off campus as well after 2014. High Point holds roughly the same as Byrd (between 50-55K).

I prefer these games in the campus stadium. I’d go to Byrd to see a game. I doubt I’ll make the trek to see them play in Baltimore.

        Maybe new Giants Stadium?

Same ole penn state. Refusing to play anyone tough. A cupcake schedule if I ever saw one Same for 2013, 2014 as well. Paterno is doing the scheduling from his grave. It has his fingerprints all over it. This so called school will never have the guts to play the SEC or PAC 10 away from the comforts of tiny psu.Their little children are too scared to get on planes, I guess.

      Notre Dame ’06, ’07
      Oregon State ’08
      Alabama ’10, ’11

And before you laugh at Oregon State, they were decent when the contract was signed. As were Temple and Syracuse in recent season. Games are scheduled so far in advance, there’s nothing you can do if a team becomes crap.

You are such a tool. Yes, no other team in the country plays out of conference games against cup cakes. Only PSU. Go Stifle yourself.

BTW, You understand that 8 of the 10 games are mandatory BIG 10 games right? The other two are against Temple (who PSU plays every year) and Buffalo. The remaining two games are OPEN and have yet to be scheduled.
