A tough, tough loss for Phil Martelli and St. Joe's in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament as the Hawks fell 89-81 in overtime to the UConn Huskies after having the victory within reach during regulation. A botched final possession in the final seconds of the second half didn't help, and Halil Kanacevic fouling out in overtime was the real dagger that St. Joe's couldn't battle back from. But battle they did, even with time ticking down, the Hawk never rolled over, fighting the entire way.

It just wasn't enough. There will be no Holy War in the NCAA Tournament this year.

The Hawks' chances may be dead, but Villanova tips off in just a few minutes. Still fighting for college hoops fans in the 215 (or 610, I suppose).

Fox reporter Colleen Wolfe captured this great shot of the two teams: one with anticipation and hope, the other with exhaustion and sadness.

That's the NCAA Tourney for ya.
