Photos: Temple Basketball will wear these new shorts vs. Texas today

Dec 7, 2013, 7:00 AM EDT

Let’s get this out of the way right up front, in light of Friday’s news. Temple University is not paying for these. Under Armour is.

Now, behold: Temple Basketball’s new alternate shorts, courtesy Darren Rovell on Twitter. They’re apparently part of the team’s “Big Owl” uniform, which features some gold trim on what are basically the same shirts.

Instant analysis: I love them. But I’m the same guy who would sell off a first-born to get the Owl wings back on the floor at the Apollo, so I’m predisposed to liking these.

The new shorts come one game after Temple unveiled a new paint job for the west wall of the Liacouras Center, behind the student section.

It is admittedly complicated to discuss any of this given Temple’s decision on Friday to cut seven of its intercollegiate athletic programs.

But, again, and I cannot stress this enough, Temple is not paying for these shorts.

Temple is not paying for these shorts.

Temple is not paying for these shorts.

You’re going to comment that you can’t believe they’re paying for these shorts after what happened yesterday, aren’t you?

Temple tips off with Texas at Wells Fargo Center at Noon.

Love the shorts, HATE the school and would never send them money or my kids after they killed off a legendary crew program.

Under Armour should stay out of the uniform/sneaker game.

Can the public buy the shorts?
