Fans who aren't big on following rules were outraged after a West Chester University student was seemingly robbed of the $10,000 owed to him for hitting a half-court shot at a game last week.
Turns out, the rules said he had to hit all of the shots in succession, and that meant no big cash prize.

Calling it a disappointment is an understatement.
After the news of this near-miss hit the web and took off on social networking, Pizza Hut jumped in to get some free publicity and deliver justice.

The restaurant chain stepped in today, tweeting directly at Lavery, "We know greatness when we see it." The restaurant offered him $10,000 in cash and free pizza for a year (no strings attached).
"That felt awesome. It just felt like all the hoopla about not getting paid.... I’m very humbled that Pizza Hut reached out to me and awarded me this prize," said Lavery with a self-described big smile on his face.

So in the end, he'll get his cash AND free pizza. For a college freshman, that's worth its weight in Old Gold.
