Temple Tries Again to Finally Beat Penn State

Share

Kevin and I hit most of the key story lines yesterday but just a few more notes in advance of this afternoon's 3:30 kickoff (ABC / ESPN 2).
-- Injury note: The Temple offensive line practiced last week without senior starters Sean Boyle and Jeff Whittingham; those two did return to practice this week. Right guard Jaimen Newman, however, is expected to miss today's game, with true freshman Kyle Friend taking his place and making his first college start.
-- Temple has not beaten Penn State since before the bombing of Pearl Harbor (Oct. 18, 1941). The Owls did manage a 7-7 tie in 1950.
-- Penn State's 29 consecutive wins against Temple would be the longest active streak in the nation for the most wins by one program over another if not for the NCAA sanctions that vacated PSU's victories dating back to 1998. Rather than 29 wins and the longest active streak in the nation, it's now just 22 and third longest in the nation.
-- Temple has never won at Beaver Stadium.
-- Temple has led at the half the last two seasons in a row.
