Your latest Brian Dawkins is ‘phenomenal' story; this one also featuring Bill Cosby

If we learned anything from the Shawn Andrews people-said-I-ate-fast-food-but-I-really-didn't-eat-fast-food-but-Donovan-rolled-his-eyes-at-me saga, it's that there isn't anyone with anything negative to say about Brian Dawkins.

Even Andrews referred to Dawk as the only guy he could trust during his time in Philly.

Some Dawk stories are legendary, and this one about he and Gary Papa has always been one of the best about his character.

Then there are the other times where he just gets in a room and wows people. Like last week, when he stopped by Temple's practice facility to talk to the 1-8 Owls during their bye week. Head coach Matt Rhule during his weekly press conference on Tuesday:

He came in last Tuesday. ... He was absolutely phenomenal. I've heard a lot of great speakers. Brian Dawkins was absolutely phenomenal.

It was like he was sitting in every meeting, like he had experienced everything with us -- without knowing anything about us -- for the last year.

He spoke truth to our players that our players definitely heard. There was a couple things where I was like, 'Man, I've been saying that all year,' and all of a sudden he says it and the kids are like, 'Yeah, that's a good point.'

That's the credibility he has.

Noted Temple alum Bill Cosby also called Rhule last week. That conversation was a little different.

It was last Monday.

Bill Cosby called me. He said, 'How you doing?'

I said, 'I'm great.'

And then he said, 'No seriously, how you doing?'

And I said, 'I'm doing great.'

And then he said, '...What pill are you on?'

Temple takes on No. 15 UCF at the Linc this Saturday. Cosby, for the record, actually performed at the Palestra after the Temple-Penn basketball game last weekend and is set to premiere his first televised standup special in 30 years later this month on Comedy Central.

Does Cosby have Rhule's direct number?

Nah, he calls the main number. They connect him.
