Back to Baseball: Kyle Kendrick Tosses in Cincy

Share

In a season where Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee have been something of a disappointment, the Phillies have at least gotten a bit of a positive surprise out of Kyle Kendrick as of late, who wasn't even added to the rotation on a regular basis until the team parted with Joe Blanton.

Kendrick (8-9, 4.01) has won his last four starts and has been impressive ever since the beginning of August, posting a 2.95 ERA over six starts. Even his haters are like, whoa. Since the All-Star Break he's gone 6-1 with a 2.42 ERA in 13 appearances.

He'll face Mat Latos (11-4, 3.79) who has been equally impressive as of late. From CSN's "what you need to know:

Latos has pitched very well over his last 13 starts, going 6-2 with a 2.53 ERA and a .200 opponents’ batting average. His ERA was 5.20 before this current stretch.

Jimmy Rollins will bat leadoff and is looking for his 2,000th career hit this evening. He currently stands at 1,999. I'm calling a leadoff dinger.

Not going to lie, I pretty much tuned out the Phillies over the long weekend as I tuned into some HOV and Bruce, but I'm ready to sit back down on the couch and listen to the rain pour down as Kyle Kendrick attempts to impress us yet again.

It's a 7:10 start from the Great American Ball Park in Cincy. Put some cheese on your chilili.

Charlie's Nine Tonight: 1. Jimmy Rollins, Kevin Frandsen, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, John Mayberry Jr., 6. Dom Brown, 7. Nate Schierholtz, 8. Erik Kratz, 9. Kyle Kendrick
