Can Mrs. Howard Cook for the Rest of the Phils?

While we're left without the usual Ryan Howard Owns St. Louis story line, the Phillies are still right in the middle of Will They Buy Or Sell Before Next Week's Trade Deadline.

Their weekend in New York did not do them any favors, dropping two of three to the lowly Mets after a series-opening victory to start their post-All-Star Game road trip.

While the Phillies were hot heading into the break, the Cardinals have been even hotter, winners of nine of their last twelve.

CSN's Corey Seidman has a real nice look at the Phillies opposing pitcher this evening, Shelby Miller:

Miller, the favorite for NL Rookie of the Year, has hit a bit of a lull after looking Matt Harvey-like over his first dozen starts. Through 12 games, Miller was 7-3 with a 1.91 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. He had 81 strikeouts in 75 1/3 innings.

In the six starts since, he has a 5.52 ERA and has allowed six homers in 29 innings.

Still, he’s a formidable foe, one the Phillies haven’t seen. (We all know how the Phils tend to fare against pitchers they’ve never seen.) The 22-year-old former first-rounder has held righties to a .183 average, and his success is even more pronounced at home, where he has a 1.93 ERA in nine starts.

We all know how the Phillies fare against a starter they've never seen.

It's a later 8:15 start from St. Louis. How are you feeling coming into this evening's contest? Would you like to see them string together five straight wins or just lose, lose, lose and blow things up?
