Cleanup On Aisle 58, But Thome Saves the Day

Jonathan Papelbon blew his first save in 18 chances this season as the Tampa Bay Rays rallied back from two down in the ninth. He still walked away ahead.

Jim Thome awoke from hibernation in the bottom half of the inning to work an eight-pitch leadoff at bat that ended in a pinch-hit home run to opposite field. Pap gets the win, his second this week, and Thome picks up the save as the Phillies went on to win the game 7-6.

Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee are scheduled to pitch in today's double header.
