Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Whatever: Phillies to Move Sunday Game

Aug 25, 2011, 12:52 PM EDT

NBC 10's John Clark is tweeting that the Phillies will forgo their Sunday afternoon match up with the Marlins and, instead, attempt a day-night double header on Saturday in the hopes of avoiding the wrath of Hurricane Irene.

We’re getting word from sources that the Philadelphia Phillies will forgo their Sunday afternoon match up with the Marlins and, instead, attempt a day-night double header on Saturday in hopes of avoiding the wrath of Hurricane Irene.

Update: From the Phils:

“Due to Hurricane Irene, Sunday’s game vs Florida has been moved to 1:05 pm ET Saturday. It will be played as part of a day-night twin bill.”

As Kulp put it just moments ago, “P——! You think Babe Ruth would have moved a game because of a little wind and rain? F— No! He would have demanded a fresh box of Cubans!”

Play ball.
