For the Sweep: Cole Hamels vs. Jon Lester

Jun 30, 2011, 11:44 AM EDT

A fantastic pitching matchup in Philadelphia this afternoon as the Phillies Cole Hamels takes on the Red Sox Jon Lester. Boston will look to avoid the sweep at the hands of the first place Phils.

Two of the games best young lefties will face off this afternoon in Philadelphia as Cole Hamels (9-4, 2.49) will take on Jon Lester (9-4, 3.66) as the Phillies will attempt to sweep the Red Sox for the first time in over a decade.

They say Lester is the kind of guy built to beat the Phillies, and he has great numbers against them in two career starts: 1-0, 0.64 ERA, 1 earned over 14 innings in 2 starts, all in Philly. Should be a fun duel to watch.

Charlie will go with Ben Francisco against Lester and Chooch is back in the lineup after getting last night off. The full lineup: Jimmy, Polanco, Utley, Howard, Victorino, Benny, Ibanez, Chooch, and, Hamels.

The Phillies kick off a strange stretch of four straight day games. Today is a typical 1:05 start and all three games in Toronto this weekend are set for 1:07 pm.
