Juan Perez Was Filthy, Historic Last Night

Courtesy of Reuben Frank:

Perez became the first major-league pitcher with a nine-pitch, three-strikeout inning in extra innings since Aug. 22, 1923, when Hollis Thurston of the White Sox fanned Beauty McGowan, Chick Galloway and Sammy Hale in the 12th inning of a game against the Philadelphia Athletics at Comiskey Park that Thurston lost in the 13th. He's the first ever to do it in extra innings and win the game.
