Padres Unveil Giant Golf ClubFoul Pole

Share

If you were up late watching the Phillies in San Diego last night, perhaps you thought to yourself, "Hey, why is there a giant golf club attached to the foul pole in right field?"

Well, it's advertising, obviously. From the San Diego Union-Tribune (via Deadspin), "The 88-foot tall club, including the club head graphic on the outfield wall, is attached to the right-field foul pole in fair territory. It’s the result of a three-year advertising agreement between the Padres and Carlsbad-based TaylorMade Golf."

This leads me to two questions. How much would you hate something like this at Citizens Bank Park and when are the Padres announcing their broccoli sponsorship to coincide with said golf club?
