Phils Win: Your Latest Picture of Jonathan Papelbon Screaming, an Encouraging Jonathan Pettibone Stat, and Some Dom Brown

May 25, 2013, 11:48 PM EDT

The Philadelphia Phillies are now just one game below .500 following a 5-3 win over the Nationals on Saturday night.

And for three hours, they even resembled a functional ball club.

Jonathan Pettibone lasted six innings, the offense didn’t strand runners, scoring five runs on only six hits, and the bullpen got through two innings without giving up a run.

Dom Brown, who homered in the second and knocked in a pinch-running Michael Martinez from first in the eighth inning, is now your club leader in homers (9) and RBIs (27).

Right before Brown scored Martinez, Delmon Young knocked in Michael Young, also from first base, thus confirming that the latter Young in also a professional runner.

Following the game, the club sent B.J. Rosenberg back to Triple A. They’re expected to bring back Mike Adams from the DL on Sunday.

And the as-promised Pettibone stat:

Hmmm, now I need music from 1983 … digging through iTunes … there’s Thriller from M.J. … Synchroncity by The Police came out that year … Ah, here we are …

I don’t know what the strangest part of the game was… Delmon Young only getting to first in the 8th, Micheal Martinez scoring a run, or Chad Durbin being the winning pitcher. Either way I’ll take it. Now lets finally get back to .500 tomorrow (baby steps).
