Quotable: What's Up With Oswalt?

Share

When we first hopped in the car in the Wells Fargo Center parking lot after leaving the Flyers game on cloud nine, we turned on the radio and the Phils had already given up 5 runs. Ugh. As we learned, Roy Oswalt was not sharp, didn't have good velocity, and gave up 5 earned in only 3 innings of work en route to the Phils second straight loss to the Diamondbacks.

So what's up with Oswalt? Is his back hurting? Turns out, Little Roy left the park last night before reporters could question him, but Charlie Manuel set things straight in a clear and succinct manner.

“He’s all right,” Manuel said. “He wasn’t right so there was no sense  leaving him out there. His stuff is usually much better than that.”

Roy is all right, but he wasn't right last night. Got it.

Charlie later added that he is a little concerned about Roy's loss of velocity, so this is a situation worth keeping a close eye on.

As for the bats, they weren't nearly as listless as they've been recently. They created plenty of chances last night but still failed to get plenty of guys home. A big crooked number one of these days certainly would be nice.
