Roy Oswalt Not Thinking Retirement

Share

Roy Oswalt looked pretty sharp in his start last night against the Nationals with a fastball consistently in the 93-94 range. While his final line didn't show it, Roy said he felt great.

"I felt pretty well," Oswalt said following the game. "Actually spotted pitches pretty well early. Probably the best I've felt all year."

So it's no surprise to read today that Oswalt is no longer contemplating retirement and is looking forward to another season in the bigs.

"There's been a rebirth," Oswalt's agent told Todd Zolecki. "There's been talk in the past
about retiring, but that's not even in the cards at this point. It's a
different Roy. It's a different feeling for him right now. He's enjoying
the game right now like he used to when he was younger. He's definitely
not retiring."

But will he be in Philly next season? There's a $16 million mutual option for 2012 that most expect the Phillies to pass on given Oswalt's injury-riddled season in 2011, but they'd probably show interest at the right price.

I'd assume most of you would like to see Oswalt back in Philly in 2012, but do you think the two sides will come to an agreement on price?
