On June 11, 1985 the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the New York Mets by a final of 26-7. The lineup card is a thing of beauty.

Via Baseball Reference and Boonie:

1. Von Hayes LF – 3-6, 6 RBI

2. Rick Shu 3B – 4-7, 2 RBI

3. Juan Samuel 2B – 5-7, 2 RBI

4. Mike Schmidt 1B – 2-2, 2 RBI

5. Glen Wilson RF – 3-6, 3 RBI

6. Bo Diaz C – 3-4, 3 RBI

7. Gary Maddox CF – 2-4, 2 RBI

8. Luis Aguayo SS – 0-1, 1 RBI

9. Charles Hudson P – 1-3, 1 RBI

There was also a stellar relief performance from none other than Larry Andersen.

Go check out the fun box score here.

The current Phillies barely seem to have had that many RBIs in the entire month of June.

A good friend of mine was there that night. He’s a Mets fan. Good times.

BTW, the ’85 Phillies were not good and yet that lineup still looks miles better than our current one. $160 million just doesn’t buy what it used to.
