Video: Raul Ibanez’s Amazing Game-Tying Ninth Inning Homer Allows Yanks to Lose Derek Jeter for Season in Extras

Rauuuuul Ibanez’s amazing postseason with the New York Yankees continued last night when, with two outs in the ninth and the Yankees trailing by two and a runner on board, Raul hit another ninth inning home run to help send the first ALDS game against the Tigers into extras.

The Yankees season may have unraveled from that point forward, however. Not only did the Yanks go on to lose the game in extras, but they also lost their captain, Derek Jeter, for the remainder of the season with a fractured ankle on a seemingly routine grounder to short.

After the game, Raul talked about the mixed feelings of being the hero for a moment but later realizing his team just lost their best player:

“It was a great moment for us, obviously, being able to battle back,”
Ibanez said of his homer. “But then watching Jete go down was a very
difficult moment for us. We’ve got to try to move forward and fight now.
Guys have got to step up.”

It’s pretty odd how a guy like Ibanez can almost make you sympathize with the evil New York Yankees. Almost.

And here’s video of the scene of Jeter going down for the season.
