2012 MLS All-Star Game Likely Coming to PPL Park, Announcement Tuesday

Jan 23, 2012, 11:06 AM EDT

The Philadelphia Union will likely hold the 2012 MLS All-Star Game at PPL Park in Chester this coming summer.

The pitch at PPL Park in Chester, PA has seen its fair share of talent over the first two seasons of its existence, but for one night this summer, it’s going to be jam packed with the best MLS has to offer.

The Union have sent out a press release regarding a “significant soccer announcement” that will take place on Tuesday at Philadelphia’s City Hall with Mayor Michael Nutter and MLS Commissioner Don Garber on hand. We believe they’ll likely announce that PPL Park will host the 2012 MLS All-Star game.

PPL Park and the Union have been fantastic for the MLS, filling their stadium under the bridge and along the river night in and night out. The Union will get a chance to showcase those fantastic television views when the league’s best come to Philly and play for a national audience.

Let’s just hope a couple of Union players can represent us well in the match.

From today’s Union release:

Mayor Michael A. Nutter and City of Chester Mayer John Linder will join
Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber and Philadelphia Union CEO
& Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz in making a significant soccer
announcement at a press conference Tuesday at City Hall.
