Matchday 9: Goals on Sunday?

Share

I am going to keep this game thread pretty brief as I am still trying catch my breath following the absurdity that was the close of the English Premier League season. I mean, Manchester City score twice in added time to win the title on goal differential? Seriously?
As for the game this afternoon against New York Red Bulls (12:30 ESPN2)? The Union, who are tied for last in MLS in goals scored, have to find goals from somewhere. They've been shut out four times in eight games. Meanwhile, the Red Bulls have kept a clean sheet in three consecutive games. Something has to give, no?
Where will the goals come from? Here's the starting lineup for the Union:
Zac MacMath, M. Farfan, Sheanon Williams, Carlos Valdes, Ray Gaddis, Freddy Adu, Gabriel Gomez, Brian Carroll, Keon Daniel, Lionard Pajoy and Danny Mwanga.
By all accounts the Union went out of its comfort zone in the midweek friendly against Schalke and actually shot the ball. Granted, it was a friendly, but the simple fact that they propelled the ball forward towards the opposing goal is encouraging.
It's already been a completely bonkers day of soccer. Hopefully the U can keep it going.
