If you watch the video above, you’ll not only see Sheanon Williams score a sensational goal last night but you'll also see the Union defender make a beeline to the stands to share a warm embrace with one or two very excited fans.

Seems like that must have been an emotional moment for Williams, getting the chance to celebrate his first goal of the season with somebody he knows well.

So who was the fan?

“I don’t know,” Williams said with a laugh following Philly’s 3-0 rout over the Columbus Crew at PPL Park. “That guy was so about it. So I was like, ‘All right dude, you get a hug.’ I don’t know who that guy is. But it was a good celebration. And I’m glad he was happy.”

We’re all glad the mystery fan was happy. Other Union fans were certainly happy with the goal too, especially after learning it landed Williams on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays of the Day.

So how did he manage to jump, twist his body and hit a beautiful side-volley past Columbus goalie Andy Gruenebaum?

“It was a great flick from B.C. [Brian Carroll],” Williams said. “I was just doing whatever I could do to put it on target.”

Sounds about as easy as giving a hug to a stranger.
