Union Earn a Road Point in KC: Video Highlights

Share

Heading into one of their most important matches of the season, Peter Nowak's Union side was without several key players. No Faryd Mondragon, Freddy Adu, or Sheanon Williams against a very tough and talented Sporting KC side in their new building? Sounds like a recipe for a point-less trip.

But Zac MacMath continued filling in admirably for Mondragon, and Sebastien Le Toux found the net again to lead the Union to a 1-1 draw and keep them near the top of the Eastern table. Video highlights after the jump. Watch for the amazing work by Michael Farfan, tiptoeing the line before finding Le Toux (4:15 mark).

Notes:
Roger Torres had a hell of a match, running the distribution for the U deftly and creatively.

A fluid and somewhat makeshift backline deserves credit for allowing only one goal to SPC's dangerous attack.

Kei Kamara… Wow. Dominant player, strong and difficult to cover. We yelled at the marking on the ball he served in for an Omar Bravo goal, but after seeing the replay, we were fixated only on the perfection of his cross. Amazing. The whole sequence unfortunately came off a Union pass that hit the referee and was then controlled by KC. Bad luck.

We're happy to see another new park in the MLS, but jesus, that pitch was a joke. Looked like the opening act was a polo game.

Big ups to the Sons of Ben who made the trip out there too. We only wish that Fox Soccer Channel had gotten a few more shots of ya.
