Biron Shuts Out Former Squad

With the Sixers hosting Elton Brand's old team the Clippers, the Flyers were on the road Friday night, playing against Marty Biron's old Sabres team. Biron never could quite get out of Dominik Hasek's and Ryan Miller's shadows in Buffalo, but he got a bit of revenge tonight, shutting out the home team and earning the game's first star with 40 saves.

I got off the train in New York just in time to see the last couple of minutes, including Jeff Carter's second goal of the third period, which he pegged upstairs on the empty net. Carter now has 13 on the season. He was joined on the score sheet by Scott Hartnell, who raised his tally total to 5, becoming the seventh Flyer to hit that mark already.

Unfortunately, I missed most of the action, but it wasn't bad to come home to a win and some weird-def CN8 goodness. Add to that a Sixers win, with Brand and Thad Young scoring 17 each and all starters in double-digits, and the indoor sportsmen had a pretty good showing in the standings on Friday night.
