As much as we wish this were a well-orchestrated April Fool's joke, word out of Phillies camp is that Joe Blanton will begin the season on the DL (at least, we think it's not a prank... these guys could easily band together and fool us all with just a couple of tweets). The beats all report that Blanton is out 3 to 6 weeks with the strained oblique that made news yesterday.
Kyle Kendrick moves into a rotation spot he earned with a great spring, but the bullpen is that much thinner as a result. We're already looking at Brad Lidge starting the season on the DL, awaiting word on JC Romero, and wondering what we'll get from Jose Contreras. So it's on you, bats. Get the starters out to big leads while these guys heal up...
