Cliff ‘Em All: Lee Set for Second Phillies Debut

Share

A few minutes into the calm contentedness that followed the Phillies'
walkoff win on Opening Day, another realization set in. Cliff Lee is
pitching game two...

We've lived in that reality since he came
back to us in December, but there's no diminishing the feeling of
knowing that after the Phillies came back for a demoralizing win in game
one of a series, Charlie will march out another Cy Young winner the
next night.

I don't care what that New York Times article said,
that's gotta suck for the nine hitters striding to the plate from the
visiting dugout tonight. That's before we even get to game three, when
Houston's former ace, our third starter, will face Bud Norris (JA Happ
won't be able to start after all, spoiling the "two guys traded for each
other" storyline).

Now, as we saw yesterday, anything can happen. It'll be a chilly
night, and there's no telling whether the Phillies offense will resemble
yesterday's first six innings or the last three. But damn it feels good
to be amped up to watch both halves of every inning under the lights at
CBP tonight.
