Cole Takes Bid for Perfect Game, No Hitter into 7th

Share

We've been holding back from saying the black-cat words, but unfortunately, it's safe now. After retiring 18 straight batters into the 7th inning, Cole Hamels gave up a lead-off walk and then a home run to JJ Hardy. Hamels has been amazing, striking out 8 so far...

Update: 11 K's for Cole, on top of going 2/3, raising his batting average to .174.

Brett Myers closed out the game in a non-save outing, pitching a perfect 9th with bookend strikeouts.
