Durbin's Ready for a Coolerpants Party With the Mets… Are You?

It's always a good time when the Mets come to Philly. Since they don't have a decent place to call home field yet, the Muts fans always show up in force, especially for a weekend series. Fighting to hold off the Phillies after falling off in June, the Mets will be sending el Duque (3-3, 2.77 ERA), who's been more impressive than most expected, to the hill in the first game of today's day-night doubleheader. Who are the Phils countering with? J.D. Durbin.

Durbin's seen some crooked numbers get put up so far in his pro career, posting a 4.87 ERA this year with AAA Ottawa; in one spring training start prior to joining the Phillies, he gave up 7 earned runs in .2 innings.  But with injuries to Jon Lieber and Freddy Garcia, and a double-header to start a 4-game series, the Phillies were low on options. And even though he hasn't been much of a pitcher so far, and he obviously misunderstood the words to "D*ck in a Box," J.D. Durbin is set to take on the Mets.

What's the moral of the story here? That you better be ready too. Seriously, get down to the park this weekend, and get loud. When the Muts start with the chants and all their little songs, boo 'em down fast. The first game might get ugly, but if it does, you just hafta get that much louder.
